Its 59-point durability sets how many actions Wooden Sword survives before breaking, and Unbreaking multiplies those 59 while Mending repairs Wooden Sword from the experience you pick up. Wooden gear is the entry-level tier, crafted from planks and used to bootstrap toward stronger materials. The enchantment pool for Wooden Sword runs to 10, including Sharpness, Smite, Bane of Arthropods, and Knockback. It closes the Weapons list, straight after Trident, 12 entries in all.

A Wooden Sword swings 1.6 times per second for 4 damage a hit, which works out at 6.4 damage per second. That is exactly what a Golden Sword manages, and the Wooden Sword gets there on planks instead of gold.

Four planks bring a worn Wooden Sword back to full, one plank per quarter of the bar. With 59 uses in the bar to begin with, most players carry a spare Wooden Sword rather than repair the first one.
